The Undeclared major is designed for students who have a wide variety of backgrounds and interests and are considered capable of being successful with college-level programs.  It is understood that entry as an Undeclared students will likely require more than four years to complete graduation requirements. Students will be given exposure to several areas of interest to move appropriately toward choosing a major. The Center for Student Success will advise the undeclared major and is overseen by the College of Sciences and Mathematics.

Undeclared students must indicate majors of interest; they will be admitted into the College that houses at least one of their majors of interest.  

Students are required to declare a major prior to accumulating 45 attempted credits (this includes transfer credits).  Students, who fail to declare a major prior to accumulating 45 attempted credits.

Typical First Year Courses for Undeclared Students

For those indicating an interest in a major in the College of Liberal Arts:

  • English Composition & Literature (EN 101 & 102)
  • Modern Language 121 or 122 (Chinese, French, German or Spanish) or Lab Science
  • Math: A Liberal Art I (MA 101) or Elementary Statistics (MA 232)
  • Introductory courses in possible major
  • ROTC courses
     

For those indicating an interest in a major in the College of Professional Schools or the College of Science & Math:

  • English Composition & Literature (EN 101 & 102)
  • Two Lab Science courses (BI, CH, ES, ID, GL, PS)
  • Precalculus Math (MA 107) or Calculus (MA 121)
  • Introductory courses in possible major
  • History course
  • ROTC courses
