Sullivan Museum & History Center

The Sullivan Museum and History Center, a 16,000-square-foot modern facility is dedicated to telling Norwich University’s story through the careful preservation of the university’s rich history and growing collection of nearly 20,000 objects.

As a teaching museum, classes from many disciplines, including history, art, and engineering, have the opportunity for hands-on learning with the collection as well as behind-the-scenes walkthroughs of the collections storage area. A growing number of objects are available online for research anywhere in the world through the collections management database.

Exhibits at the museum have included a series on the Civil War, commemorative exhibitions for World War I and II, specialty exhibits on Norwich explorers and innovators, a cross-disciplinary exhibit for edged weapons and firearms, and art exhibits featuring works by Norwich University professors and most recently a Norwich alumna.

The museum offers programming throughout the academic year including in-person and virtual Lunch and Learns, special evening programming, gallery talks or tours, and hosts many events for offices around campus.
